Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, known for making some of the tastiest ice cream on the planet and for their loud support of liberal causes, will appear on The Colbert Report March 5th. The Ben and Jerry's founders will use their visit on Comedy Central's popular satire show to launch Colbert's new ice cream flavor, AmeriCone Dream, described as a " decadent melting pot of vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and a caramel swirl".
In a press release, Colbert says he "believes AmeriCone Dream can make a difference. I'm not afraid to say it. Dessert has a well-known liberal agenda. What I hope to do with this ice cream is bring some balance back to the freezer case."
Hilarious, and a brilliant marketing move. The Colbert Report, a Daily Show spinoff poking fun at conservative political pundit TV programs, most notably The O'Reilly Factor, has a rabid and engaged fan base fanning from the left to the right. The same fans who helped push Truthiness to top-of-mind status, will no doubt indulge in this tasty offering. Colbert says he's donating his AmeriCone Dream proceeds to charity.
